Took my little wannabe niece to the county fair after work today. Some of the things they are deep frying now amaze me.
I limited the 6 yr. old to a corn dog, fried pickles, and a deep fried Snickers bar. She really wanted one of those giant turkey legs...I told her
'we'll see'. I sucessfully avoided that booth the rest of the time we were there |

Amazing the cast-iron stomachs 6 yr/olds have.
Grilled turkey burgers...with blue-cheese and grilled onions and grilled bun. |

She really wanted one of those giant turkey legs.... I sucessfully avoided that booth the rest of the time we were thereT's Rule #1 - always steer kids clear of the more nutritious foods... Although I am not a fan of turkey, but then I probably would have only had the corn. You really ate that other stuff!?!?!?!?!?

I had the corn and the elephant ear...what was left of it after KT was got done pawing it.
She had all the other stuff, that fried Snickers literally turned my stomach. The roasted corn was really good. Those turkey legs didn't look very nutritious to me, and in my effort to steer clear of them I missed the kettle corn place I'm just thankful she isn't much of a carnival ride kid....I didn't want any of that to make a second appearance. We spent a good amount of
time in the exhibit barns, where it was 150 stinky degrees |

the exhibit barns, Do you regularly visit the county fair? I can remember taking my twins to them when we would visit my mother...walking in and out the 4H barns....me holding them both as they tried to pet the lambs, and look at the cows. The action in the center ring-the barrel races, the horse show, and the wandering from one small ride to another, balloons and ice creams in hand...it was a wonderful time. And I bet Katers would still remember those visits. |

Best memories of my childhood are centered around the West Virginia State Fair with my Dad and Granddad. The foods were wonderful. And my dad wouldn't
let me have the cotton candy.
While I was in Hooville, my son took us to a Korean place. I had sweet potato noodles with a very liquid stir fry. Yummy!

Do you regularly visit the county fair?Magistra, I always hit at least one of the fairs each year. I used to take my nephew (before he was too cool to go with his aunt). I enjoy seeing the kids 4-H projects. It was just a tad too warm in the livestock barns this year..... |

My Dad was secretary for our county fair for several years. I can remember he had us working on paperwork for him and we went a lot.

Veggie pizza and Sierra Nevada ESB.
Wednesday a friend and I went out to dinner, for her birthday, to the Mesa Grill in Manhattan as part of NY Restaurant Week. I had spicy Salmon Tartare on a Hominy Cake, Blue Corn Encrusted Red Snapper, and this decadent chocolate thing for dessert, along with 2 margaritas. Yum. ![]() |

Yoga class manga?
There were left-overs tonight...we continue to be without children at the dinner table-those not sitting in a high chair. Those left-overs added to a salad...a few glasses of Chardonnay=perfect summer dinner. Consumed outside on a patio. |

Yep. It's something I've been wanting to do for ages. I spend FAR too much time sitting on my as$ at the computer now that I've stopped the
incessant travel.
The patio sounds lovely. Haven't figured out dinner for tonight...yet. ![]() |

Spinach lasagna...not the usual hot-weather fare, but we all still managed second-helpings. And I am sure Katers and Jackson will be visiting the refrigerator
tonight for a few further platefuls.
