Joining friends for a cookout at their house and perhaps swimming.

It is PRIDE weekend here - a week late because the venue moved because of the drought conditions.

I bought stuff this morning for grilling, and I figure we might catch a movie in the afternoon. But the most important event will be getting to watch the
fireworks from the roof of the Pentagon!!!! The Mall, the Capitol, Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial bathed in red, white and blue? Oh, yeah! I am tres
excited!!!!
Any change, even a change for the better, is always accompanied by drawbacks
and discomforts.

The pentagon huh Chy? That sounds like an interesting spot. I've seen them from the top of other Gov't buildings downtown and it really is awesome. Of course at the NPS, where I used to work, the running joke was that you should see firworks in NYC or Boston, because in DC we always goes with the lowest bidder for the fireworks contract. Despite that I still think it is a great show. |

My dream is to finally get to Boston for the 4th. A nice spot on my blanket as the Boston Pops play and the fireworks in the background. It's my favorite
program to find on PBS on the 4th. I just want to see it in person one of these years.

pssst - Hottie. Save those frequent flyer miles and then next year to NYC Pride and take a train to Boston and then home. One week's vacation and you are
done.

Mr. Fuzzer and I are staying home. We traveled last weekend to see family. The Boston Pops on the TV and maybe a few local fireworks displays. The City
where I work has their celebration on the 3rd (cheaper that way!) , so we will see that and also the local ones.
Usually I am in a distant city for the fourth and I've seen some great celebrations. DC was good and so was Philly, but the best by far was on the 54th floor of my hotel in New Orleans overlooking the Mississippi River and the French Quarter. We were on level with the fireworks and could see not only the ones right below us, but also 2 other displays along the river. Spectacular!

Happy Belated-4th to everyone (and belated Canada Day greetings to our Canuck friends
I slept late, worked all afternoon, then stood under the small fireworks display put on by the city of Nyack from Memorial Park. It was tiny and kinda fun...in a quaint, small town, way. They still set off the mortars by hand here, not using the flashy electronic ignition that is employed by big pyrotechnic companies. It was fun to be right under the path of the shells. ![]() |
